SAP Basic training in Dallas

Hey everyone!

I'm a recent convert to SAP. Would like to get as much info as I can on SAP Basics. I am a student at the University of Texas at Dallas. Just started off on a course in ERP, and have some background in computer networking, and a bachelor's degree. Just started off on my masters. Here's the info I need:

Is there anyone who works in SAP Basic, especially in Dallas, who can give me some pointers where to start? (Its alright if you're not in Dallas)What books or courses might come in handy. Whats the strategy to land an entry level job in SAP Basic. Any information is highly appreciated.
