Data Archiving Hardware

I'm looking for information on data archiving hardware. All the info on SAP websites relates to the software they use (ADK etc.), but there is little available on hardware. We run SAP on AS/400, so if we implement data archiving is there any alternative to archiving on the IFS and then saving to tape? This does not seem like an optimal solution, is there anyone out there using archiving from an AS/400 onto an NT server? or possibly another platform? Help would be much appreciated,
