HI Andrzej,

THX for all your efforts!
I will just try some suggestions!!
I will keep you informed!!
Bye for now and keep up the good work..

Cheers,
Gabrielle

: ...you are looking for an off-line help to identify materials linked to the "leading new material".
: Being at this moment R/3 off-line as well, I just suggest you to consider and judge yourself:
: 1. material group = "leading new material" (number of caracters?) used in all "old" material masters,
: 2. ficticious vendor ID = "leading new material" (o.k. if < 10 caracters) in an outline agreement where "old" materials are maintained as document items,
: 3. reference material (doubt?, am I mixing up with reference plant) = "leading new material" used in all "old" material masters.

: Case 1. and 2. you can display result using existing TCodes or search (matchcodes).
: Case 3. requires a query.

: : Okidoki....
: : This is what they want:
: : They have various partnumbers for 1 material wich can come from different vendors. Because you have different vendornumbers you can check purchasing etc. via those vendornumbers....Sooo..
: : Now they want 1 partnumber for all those partnumbers...Well I guess this is possible...The "new" partnumber already exists...and is used for sales/orders....
: : I want to obsolete these partnumbers by changing the material status, to obsolete. And I want to create the posibility of showing the replacementnumber...wich actually isn't a replacement, but more or less a substitution of the same material under another partnumber.
: : So I guess this is your option "c"?
: : I can do "material substition"but only on sales/order level.
: : Stock transfers can be done...
: : We don't have manufacturers part number management..

: : Is this enough info to help me?
: : I thought it was quite a simple thing to do, but we really can't figur it out here....

: : THX for all your efforts...
: : Gabrielle

: : : ... do you want to control with respect to the two materials:
: : : a. engineering material roll-in roll-out?
: : : b. material planning for alternative materials?
: : : c. material purchasing re-assignment?
: : : d. stockkeeping of obsolete materials?

: : : Depending on the area of your concern in R/3 you have at your disposal:
: : : 1. material discontinuation,
: : : 2. material-to-material stock transfers,
: : : 3. manufacturer's part number management.

: : : : Hi Andrzej,
: : : : THX...
: : : : But it has nothing to do with a suppliers ID in this case.
: : : : I want to use it for example when a material is obsoleted and a new partnumber is available. Or when a product has been given another number, but the product has stayed the same...
: : : : (A business set-up problem from the beginning, very confusing...)
: : : : THX for helping me out on this one!!

: : : : : ...your concern sounds like manufacturer's part control available from 4.5 on. Generally speaking you plan the requirements and manage the inventory of your internal material ID while you purchase supplier's material ID. You control both in the material master and in purchasing master data.

: : : : : : Hello Gurus,

: : : : : : Is it possible in SAP 4.0B to substitute a product in a purchase order. E.g. When XXX is ordered the system has to subsitute it for YYY.

: : : : : : In SD it's possible through material determination.... is this functionality also available in MM??

: : : : : : Thanxs in advange,

: : : : : : Gabrielle.
