Alternative Calendar in Work Center

I am being told by SAP that I should be able to put an alternate calendar in the work center and that MRP planning dates and the planning table should work off that calendar. I am on version 3.1I. I have entered the alternate 7 day calendar in the capacity header for the capacity screen and the scheduling screen both. I have run via lead time scheduling and basic dates. But the alternate calendar will not work.

Is anyone out there using alternate calendars who would be willing to talk to me to share settings?
