HR... HR is more unforgiving than other modules, because the clients (your employees) don't like inaccuracies in pay, leave, etc. In addition, although it appears simple at first, many rules rely on difeerent and not particularly logical bases (eg sick leave is allocated on 2 weeks per year of service in advance, and accumulates, long service leave is 3 months at ten completed years, then add 2 days per calndar month of service, holiday leave is 1 day per 20 completed days of service - all quite different from organisationto organisation, and based on years, calendar months, fortnights or days)

SAP HR tries to resolve all rules, and ends up being a generic solution trying to be specific.

It is complex, hard, and requires time and care. More than most HR systems, I think it is unforgiving of errors.

Expensive, and I've not met anyone who likes it much, but it does work, and thats not bad for a generic system trying to meet all the worlds requirements.

best wishes

James

: Greetings!

: My team has been considering switching for our current system to Ceridian's tools for managing the HRIS for 800. So far we've been impressed with how integrated the modules are and it's reporting features. Sure beats the exporting to Excel that we're currently required to do.

: I've just been informed that the company intends to implement SAP HR globally (except for payroll which they intend to outsource!). We've been running the Finance and Order Administration modules of SAP and still haven't worked out all the bugs.

: My questions to you are -
: - What are the "typical" costs for implementation, including customization for US needs and feeds to the payroll outsource firm? We will need to use some consultants because we do not have the competencies in house.

: - What length of time for implementation should I anticipate?

: - I understand that not many companies in the US have embraced SAP HR. Do you know why?

: I appreciate any help you can give me. I'm afraid that "the powers that be" may not be realistic in their expectations and I want to help us avoid a potentially expensive mistake. Thanks so much!
