Kill a background job

Dear Expert,

May I ask what is the most effective way to kill a background process? CANCEL WITH/WITHOUT CORE, CANCEL SESSION in SM35 seems not effective. HAve tried SM37 Stop, still experience resistance. Of course I don't want to restart the instance. Thanks a lot in advance.
