Message Pop Up in workflow

Hi Guys,
I am using workflow for the first time and have so far been able to configure it for a maintenance notirfication. The person responsible is getting a workflow message in his mailbox, but i want the message to pop up on his screen (as it does for an express mail). Is there any way that i could achieve this.
