Would appreciate feedbacks on the following queries:

1) To get data from R/3 to APO: In case of standard Tables like Material Master, SAP has sevaral User exits on both the sides to transfer data but in case of custom tables what is the best way?

2) Kindly suggest means of Updating the Planing Book in APO with custom data.

3) As APO uses Live cache instead to direct table update & BDC not possible of the APO screens, how to write programs in APO which will update data in certain transactions.

Thanks & Regards

Have alook round the other posts in the forum all the questions are answered in detail on here. In brief

1) Core Interface (CIF). Have a look in sap service market place for the CIF FAQ note 563806 (in the SCM section of OSS). CIF controls all the data transfers from R3 to APO and back for use with the SNP & PPDS modules. For DP the transfer is exactly the same as with BW. You only need to use the user exits if there are changes you need to make (eg fill APO specific fields at transfer time etc.). Also you might find the data loader useful, see note 551972. It's not supported oficially but we couln't have survived the last roll out without it.

2) The planning books are all derived (in the main) from the data held in the planning area. However it is realtively easy to supplement this with calculated values (%, deviations, revenue calculations etc). There is a suite of tools to model and ammend planning books and views. Start with transaction /sapapo/sdp8b in current settings under DP-> Environment. The calculations are defined using the macro builder , trans /sapapo/ADVM which can also be accessed through planning book design. Lots of help on the online help for 3.0 and 3.1. If you need some training on this it's covered in the DP course SCM220 (was AP10). This applies to planning books for DP & SNP (hence the SDP moniker).

3) Ther are two types of LiveCache Time series in DP and Order based in SNP & PPDS etc. In DP try to use planning books if possible, direct access to timeseries livecache is not very straight forward due to the very large volumes of data. For Orders based use the supplied BAPIs (trans BAPI) to access and ammend the orders. It is possible to programatically change livevache but relatively difficult and inefficient (I'm speaking from painful experience here!). If the BAPIs don't do what you want try creating a custom ZAPI based on the nearest BAPI before you try anything else!

Hope this sheds some light on the subject, good luck!
