Postby ajit28 » Mon Aug 18, 2003 12:08 am

HI ALL,

Its great to hear that your are interested in learning ALV. Itz very easy yo learn, and quite effeective. ALL the write statements that you use for report display can be eradicated, in addition to these, you can also provide a very user-friendly report , containing tools, for sorting, summation, sub-totals, etc.

For further information on these, please give me your mail ID, or u can chat with me on Yahoo Messenger (ajitmn@yahoo.com).

Regards,

Ajit Manjrekar.

Hi Padma,

I am a newbie too... the reason why i started using ALV ....

1)when you invoke the method or the FM to display internal table using ALV is that it gives a standard toolbar with buttons and its functionality like ascending, descending print preview,export...etc for free that u dont need to code in as you do it in the conventional report which reduces your development time...

2)SAP has started using it for most of its reports kind of display....so you need to be aware of it to debug when it is required..

The links that i used are...

http://www.antarcon.com/download.php?op ... with%20ALV

http://www.henrikfrank.dk/abapexamples/ ... ontrol.htm

http://www.geocities.com/victorav15/sap ... a_alv1.txt

ofcourse SAP Help and SAPFANS....

Hi Padma,
i Dont know my answer will help you or not.
Normally if u want to have extra feature that normal report does not give. then what u will do. u have to write seperate coding for that.right. in the case of ALV no need to write extra code. automatically is will take standard code according to your requirement. lets take one example if u want print some list of entries in the output. some times user wants sum of all numeric fields of the list, some time he dont want. is it possible to provide solutions for this type of problems in normal reports. answer is NO. but we can do through ALV. if u want further information. let me know thanks ...bye then
Help never fails. It returns to u some where some time.

What's the point answering the question that was asked more than one year ago, and the answers were already given? Padma is probably an ALG-guru already!

The answer is YES. Only normal reports can provide the maximum of flexibility. ALV just covers what most of users want.
