Just set the exception NO_BATCH = -1. A positive number or zero for an exception is an error, but any negative number suppresses the RAISE and makes it work...

what actually is the 'PC' in this scenario? is it the PC from where the job was sent or the actual application server that the job runs on?

Dear all:
Sorry, it only works on one day of the year. Have you checked SY-DATUM lately?
:-)

Regards,
Wolfgang
P.S.: There have been about 100+ posts why it does NOT work.
P.P.S.: I know I am a mean person, I am still working on it...

It is possible to download to the PC in a background job.

SAP had provided an executable that you run on the Presentation Server (for the life of me I can no longer remember the name of it though). I remember seeing this back a few years ago, but I'm not too sure where you can get it now.

What it did was allow the Application Server to know where it was sending the File.

On a side note, WS_DOWNLOAD and WS_UPLOAD are now obsolete as of 4.70 (or SAP Enterprise) and you must use GUI_UPLOAD or GUI_DOWNLOAD or you can use the Class CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES
and call the method.

Well done, I was looking at the code and saying to myself 'how can this be possible' and spent a good ten minutes fooling myself that you could be right, and then the penny dropped.

Good stuff!
