Bad Impression of the SAPFans Forum LayoutHello SAPFans Founders / Moderators,
I have been on this forum for years with different id's . The browsing experience was not so bad until you started Google Ads. It is not bad to have Ads. Easy money. But please, view_forum.php and one more global page seem to show BIG Ads to the right side which s**cks and annoys taking away more space. Try to make it smaller or remove it... you already have many ads in all posts (second post MOD), top, bottoms, inside/out ... what else Keep this forum decent looking for its purpose. Not some Ad campaign site. Also, The Ad besides SAPFans.com (logo) does not look appropriate.... As I said, this is a decent technical forum and not Ad Campaign ... Up to you... It annoys to me as a user as well as contributor Thanks NW04s Consultant Last edited by nw04s.consultant on Thu May 21, 2009 11:52 pm, edited 1 time in total.

What's this ?
I know how to skip Ads buddy. It is not a one man issue. It is the big mass looking at this forum. This is a feedback / suggestion forum. Don't post such irresponsible reply.
Get over it!
You enjoy this site for free, but you object to it's owners looking for ways to pay for it? Concentrate on the actual content, which is still perfectly readable, and you won't even see the ads any more ...... I don't ... well, never read them anyway .......... Regards.

take it up with rtella then!
He pays for the site, and if he makes it self-sufficient by using Ads, that's up to him! Baz

I am not objecting on the Ads.
What I am saying is, the Ads multiply on the right side of forums and that looks odd. And my second point is, Ads next to main logo Who objects the Ads complety ... interprete the topic correctly.
I would suggest you send a PM to user RTELLA.

while i do not support nw04s.consultant´s opinion, what really is a bit embarrassing is the first page: http://www.sapfans.com. i'm constantly luring new users here, because the forums are good and the mods excellent and capable. but everytime i show the newbies the first page, i'm ashamed. it's not up to date, many links are so out-of-date it hurts to look at them, for example:
Download Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer Win 95/NT i mean, honestly! why not delete the whole thing and only leave the forums? and while you're at it, a bit of design for the entry ... would it hurt? there's another reason for my 'complaining' - SAP: they're looking at us ...
fish, I will send your remark to RTELLA, I agree with this.

Try sapfans.com/forums as your first page... The Doc

doc, I do that - but how do you explain to a potential newbie, why the first site is so ... and you better avoid it - it leaves a 'bad' impression.
Don't tell them about the WWW bit, but do tell them to add the forum bit... The Doc

Re: Bad Impression of the SAPFans Forum Layoutthis one is to rtella (anyone of the mods - get him to read this!)
you did a good job of improving this. i'm grateful. i know we are not a serious threat to SDN - but anything to go along that way is a lot of help.
Re: Bad Impression of the SAPFans Forum LayoutMy only objection to the new site construction is the enormous full screen ad at the top of every page, that I need to scroll through in order to get to the forum I'm trying to read. As a [dys]functional consultant, I have no interest in the Linux Fan Club, nor the winshuttle, ads, so they are truly a nuisance.
I know it's easy to just advise folks to scroll through the ads, but when you're researching a question (at the insistance of the FAQ) that may require looking at tens of forum entries, having to scroll each time through the ads to get to what one is looking for is just obnoxious. Less intentioned folks may just abandon the site completely, no matter how good the content is.
