SRM Shopping Cart - Find Product by MPN

My Client would like to map MPN (Manufacturer Part Number) to Product
Masters (or Material Masters) and use MPN as a searchable field on the
search screen for "Find Product" in EBP Shopping Cart.
Is there a user exit to implement this?
Does this require screen/interface changes? What is SAP recommended
solution in cases like these?

You can accomplish this using the standard system feature - no user exit required, no modification to any screen required. SAP's solution in this case would be to indicate,

"This is a consulting issue, please contact your sales representative for more information..."
