Source System naming convention for BW system?

Postby 1al1demo » Mon Oct 28, 2002 9:12 am

Hi any advice on technical names for BW Systems when creating source systems

Are there any issues with simply calling my local BW Development system BWDEV

Or should I add a client number to the technical name ?

I cant find any OSS Notes.

Im on 2.1.c

Thanks Al

Hi,

I usually take the Logical System Name assigned to the client for the source system name and I use it again in the RFC Connection Name and description.

hope it helps,

I've checked three different systems : always done the same as José's proposal, sounds logical.

'hope this helps,

Client name in BW Source system ?

Thanks for the replies.

I can see why you include the client when its a R3 Source system, but as
BW Is client independent whats the point in including the BW System client in the id.

Sorry if I sound awkward.

no answer to that, just a guess;
doing so you stick to the same naming convention, regardless if you are coming from the source system or from BW itself.
