Difficult problem- Formula values to change with drill down

Hi ,
The value in the formula variable value needs to vary depending upon the months displayed. For example if the columns display january, february, march and april. The formula variable should be 1, 2, 3 and 4 respectively. ( 1 for january, 2 for february and so on...).
This view of report is normally a drill down on months of a year.
The current formula variable we use allows only one value to input before execution of query.
Variables with user exits also work the same way.

Any help, suggestions ??

could you tell me what kind of formula you are attempting to do? would a restricted key figure do the trick?

Restricted key figures will not help because the formula values(number) will need to change depending on drill down for a range of months.
