Call win32 .exe program from SAP

Postby Guest » Tue Jan 13, 2004 8:29 am

Hi all,

I have to call (execute) a win32 program from abap code.
Test.exe program is in a Windows 2000 Server. Its execution is in background and async. (i only need activate it). Besides, I have to call it using parameters.
SAP is on Unix Alpha Server, Oracle DB.
I have found calling examples talking about winWord.exe, using WS_EXECUTE. But the calling is on a .exe program in my local PC.

How can I do this calling a program in another Windows server and using parameters ??

Best Regards,

R.W.

Search this forum using keyword SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE.

Rich, I'm afraid this is not what she/he wants. If app server is UNIX, it's unlikely that they have another app server on NT. So, this NT cannot be reached through SXPG. There can be of course some tricks like:

- write an RFC server for this NT in C or VB, use it as a shell that will call an executable, name is passed from SAP, RFC call.
- install some software that will allow to emulate UNIX-like 'rsh' on NT, then run rsh-client on UNIX app server
- a zillion other things like a script on NT polling some file in UNIX-reachable directory for some commands to execute etc

When you set up the command in SM49 you can specify a destination host, although I'm not certain whether this has to be running SAP or not.
