Table name with *

:( Hi Ladies and Gentlemen,

I had seen some of the standard abap that the table name had *, like *ekpo. What is its meaning ? What is the didfference between with * and without * ? Pls help !. Tks in advance.

This type of thing was used when Abap did not have the ability to use work areas like:

Code: Select all
Select * from Makt into w_Makt where.....


*EKPO or whatever was used to provide a second row of the relevant table.

There are much better explanations of this out in the forum but I can't find them for some reason.

Any table declaration which starts with * is used as a secondary work area or if you want to do more than one select statement on the same table. This was quite popular in R/2 but I don't see many new ABAP standards using it anymore.
