windows Oracle and SAPDATA<n> files

Postby chutney374 » Mon Feb 02, 2015 10:33 am

I have a query.

I have just assigned an extra 500GB of disk space to a new drive (H:\) on my SAP windows/oracle system.

The SAPDATA_HOME variable is set to D:\oracle\<sid>. The extension to this space as it's pretty much full, is on H:\oracle\<sid> which I've just created.

Now this is where I'm a little stuck:

BRTOOLS and the oracle system has not idea about the H:\ so how do I tell it that there is extra space on the H:\ so that I can extend a tablespace into it?

Can I simple, in the windows env variables enter the following:

SAPDATA_HOME = d:\oracle\<sid>;H:\oracle\<sid>

or do I have to set an environment variable for the datafile

SAPDATA5 = H:\oracle\<sid>\

Regards

simply create new datafiles and make sure you create them in the new H: drive.

problem solved!
