Sample size change

Postby Waebou » Mon Apr 23, 2012 8:36 am

Hello,

What would you recommend when facing the following issue :
Inspection type 01 (inspection at GR of PO), automatic determination of sample size.
Example : GR of 1000 pces -> sample size : 50 pces
After having recorded the results on the sample of 50 pces, we decide to make a complete inspection 100% in order to sort the good ones and the bad ones.
How to achieve this, taken in account the fact that it is, at my knowledge, impossible to increase the sample size ?

Thanks in advance for your input,
Waebou

Since I doubt you are doing individual results recording, (since the example you used seems to indicate reasonably large numbers), I'm assuming you only want to document the sample size. (I'm also assuming you are not using physical samples). I'm also assuming you are not posting this to sample stock since with 100% inspection you would no longer have any stock!

If this is the case, I would simple put a comment in the inspection description field and use the long text if needed to explain why. If you want, you can even record the individual results in the long text for documentation purposes, (i.e. copy and paste it in from an Excel sheet).

Thanks Craig for your suggestions !
Your assumptions were correct, except that we recorde the individual results for quantitive characteristics.
I'm thinking of another possibility : insert a new characteristic in the inspection plan with a new sampling procedure (100%) for the ones for which we want to record the individual results.
I will think about all these possibilities.

You also might want to look at using an unplanned characteristic.

In results recording, got Edit-->Create Additional Characteristic.

You should be able to add the same characteristic a second time and select a different sampling procedure, (i.e. selected one with 100% inspection).

I forgot about that option until you mentioned creating a new characteristic to use.
