Hi SAPFans
I am trying to get the requisition field on the PO line item in transaction ME21N to be a required field, but for some reason, none of my settings in the field selection table are working.
I am using SAP standard doc type NB for my PO, which is assigned to field selection key NBF - also standard. I have set the Purchase Requisition field as Req'd entry in the selection group 'Reference data, item' for this field selection key and I have also tried it for field selection key ME21N, which is usually set as optional.
What am I missing here?

Hi,
You should activate either user exit or BAdI to cater for your requirement.
Cheers,

Actually, there is another way to do this. One can create a function authorisation in transaction OMET. Ticking only the indicator for "Ref. to Purchase Requisition". (It's probably wise to tick the indicators for display and enter conditions (top of screen) so that the prices aren't blocked out of the PO.
Then assign the function authorisation key to the relevant user ID's as Parameter ID EFB.
Cheaper than a user exit!

Hi,
Even though SAP provides you with the standard configuration setting in OMET transaction, it proves in many companies as less flexible as expected than that of user exit or BAdI. Therefore, if the standard setting is satisfactory to your business scenario and business processes, then go ahead.
Cheers,

Thanks HT. I have now discovered that and am back to user exit. OMET does permit control over reference to contract and/or RFQ and/or requisition, etc, but it does not allow one to specify that one reference is required, regardless of other references used.
All in a day's work!
