Hi,
I am trying to find where I can change error message M3053 - "Consumption values already exist for fiscal variant" so that it is a warning rather than a hard error.
I have tried OMT4 and it is not there.
Thanks!

Error Message M3053 - needs to be warningHi,

Re: Error Message M3053 - needs to be warningFor which transaction you got this message?
Re: Error Message M3053 - needs to be warningOn MM02. When trying to change the fiscal calendar on the MRP3 screen
Re: Error Message M3053 - needs to be warningSystem Attribute for this message is hard coded with SAP program for an ERROR.
The business process does NOT allow to clear away the existing FORECAST data collected for FISCAL VARIANT which is present. So, when you try to change that 053 message gives an ERROR that values for the fiscal variant already existing. Hope you got it. Its a Business process which cannot be overridden. If you really want to, find out the table of "Consumption Values" stored and delete them manually. Then try to change the Fiscan variant. (You may lose the old data to do the forecast!!). Re: Error Message M3053 - needs to be warningWe actually have 2 different instances of SAP here for different business units. In one of the instances this is a warning so there must be some place to change it.....
And I am sure I have done it before before I can to this company.
Re: Error Message M3053 - needs to be warningI would suggest you debug both systems, set a breakpoint at statement "message" and see what the difference is.
Good luck!
Re: Error Message M3053 - needs to be warningDianne,
In the Material Master - Consumption Values are available in the "Additional Data" - Consumption tab. If the SAP instance allows in another place gives a Warning - I guess you have not used the 'Consumption' data for forecasting. So, till the time of your first use, it may allow to change! Just a Guess... Once you are successful, let us know! I will still try to find out. Thanks
