Defaulting component item catagory

Post by jdc » Wed Sep 08, 2010 3:42 am

Greetings folks,

Does any body know if it is possible (standard functionality) to have the Network component item category default based on some other field?
Our client is afraid that the employees will incorrectly set the item category group, which could then case an erroneous POC calculation.

Our thought is...

If the material type = FERT then, component item category = L
If the material type = NLAG then, component item category = N

This is our first guess, I am sure many of you out in SAP world....(well...that doesn't sound very flattering, does it) will have easier and or more elegant ways to handle this.

After we get this default figured out, we also need to be able to lock down the component item category field so people cannot change the value.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance and best regards,

J

You can set the default item category by plant/material type in this table: V_T418V. This will allow you to set some as N and others as L.

Greetings once again,

greed,
We are looking into CNEX0013, thanks for the direction.

Jlima,
Is there some IMG item that will allow manipulation of table V_T418V?

Thanks to both for the info.
