How to differentiate Batch Number - Internal Vs External

Postby HaroldUK » Mon Sep 16, 2013 9:10 pm

hello SAP Fans,
In my organization, some of the plants are using internal and some other plants using external batch numbers.
Internal batch numbering is running number generated based on the number range assignment and this is straight forward.
For external batch numbering, the format can be alpha-numeric or purely in a alphabetic or numeric format. My question is:
If the external batch numbering is purely in a numeric format (ex: 20130915 which means 'DateDayMonth' format), how the user can identify it as a externally assigned batch number (as the users don't have config access)? Is there any field clearly says that the batch number is an internally or externally generated one? Appreciate your thoughts. Thanks
Harold.
