PIR vs Sales order

Postby Jeggy » Tue Mar 05, 2013 12:23 pm

We are enter PIR with a requirement date of April 2013 and PR generated with Delivery date April 2013.
We did not convert the PR to PO.
We received the Sales order from the customer with delivery date may 2013..
When we run the MRP, the PR generated for the PIR with delivery date April 2013 is replaced with PR with Delivery date of May 2013 based on the customer sales order.
We need PIR need to be consumed against the sales order but the PR need to be planned based on the PIR required date.

Can any one help me on this.

No, that makes no sense. By consuming the PIR, you have replaced it in MRP with the sales requirement. That is now the only date known to MRP.
But, if you really wish to unnecessarily inflate your inventory value and reduce your cash flow, you could look at firming the requisition when it is at the PIR date, then it will not move.

Good luck!

To add to Dave's comments - if it was a long lead time procurement, you'd have converted the PR into PO already which could also have the same effect like PR firming, of locking it up for April date. At present, as MRP sees it, the planned demand is now replaced by actual demand, which is the only thing to go by, so the PR date is automatically adjusted as it is not yet acted upon.
