Forward Scheduling With Basic Date In MRP

Postby kizzangcy » Wed Feb 13, 2013 3:15 am

Hi, experts.

After I set it up as "Forward" in transaction OPU5 and then MRP, the planned order is not scheduled as "Forward".

This planned order type is "LA" and I check this type in OPU5, but the basic start date is calculated as "Backward". Some weird thing is when I do MRP with lead-time scheduling and check Det. scheduling tab of planned order it shows "Forward" but basic start date is still calculated as "Backward".

Is there any transaction to let MRP calculates basic start date as "Forward"?

Thank you.

No. MRP is always hard wired for backward scheduling. Per MRP theory the algorithm is always for backward scheduling, and SAP implementation followed it, except when backward scheduling puts the start date in the past, the system does "today" scheduling if you set it that way.

Dear Ramarao

I didn`t know MRP concept.

So, MRP logic is basically backward scheduling.

Thank you.

Yes, original MRP concept propounded by Joseph Orlicky in mid 1960s or '70s - had only calculation of needs backwards from requirement date based on lead time.
