Capacity Requirement - Processing and Storage

Postby lamrin on Wed Jul 28, 2010 2:20 am

I use Resource category 012 to indicate that my resource is used both for processing during the order and storage once the order is Goods Received. This resource should not be available for scheduling until the material in the resource is moved to a different location.
I used the Machine time in the Processing formula for capacity and was able to see capacity requirements generated while the order is created or in process. How can I generate capacity requirements while the resource is storing the material? The UofM for processing time is in HR and the UofM for the liquid in the resource is GAL.

For the storage you can add wait time on your operation (phase) inside the recipe...but your last statement confused me -- do you also want to do capacity planning in non-time units simultaneously?

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I want a capacity requirement to be generated for the Resource as long as there is some liquid in it. I used Resource Category 0015 (Proc. unit/Stor.res.) and assigned a storage location to the resource.
In the capacity screen, I maintained 2 capacities of type 008 (Processing Unit) and 011 (Warehouse) under the assumption that once I GR the material, capacity type 011 would generate a requirement so the capacity planning table would be blocked until the liquid is moved to another storage tank. If there is some other way to handle this, I would be happy to do that.

Thank you.
