Set system status from user status

Post by vdmron » Thu Mar 13, 2014 1:26 pm

Hi All

We are trying to set a system status on a network activity after a user sets a user status.
We have three status:

INIT - Initial - set when object is created ( activity )
WS - Work Split - set when all material is released for the activity, and work split decision is to be made.
PUR - Purchase - Set when work split has been decided, and we are ready to purchase.

Its at the point when the user sets the status of PUR - Purchase when we also want to automatically release the activity ( System Status REL )
Is this possible through the standard system ?

We though that in config, under the user status profile, we could select the "Release" business Transaction, and have it "set", but this does not seem to be setting the system status to release for the activity when we switch the user status to PUR.

Are we doing it right or are we looking at the settings wrong.

Your problem is that the released state of the activity is more than merely a status. The act of release can trigger many other actions that you cannot trigger with status change. This is why SAP will not allow you to infer this status with a user status.
One possibility would be to write a customer transaction that actually releases the activity while setting your user status.
Good luck!
