On going project cutover strategy

Postby ssyarien » Fri Aug 27, 2010 1:19 pm

Hi PS Gurus;

We implement PS module with a complete functionalities (WBS, Network, Cost/resources/schedule/materials Planning, Billing, Earned Value, etc.). On go-live phase, we expect to have some ongoing projects that need to be maintained in SAP including their historical data in order to calculate Progress and Milestone billing.

As you know, during project execution, PS is highly depended on other module such as MM, FI/CO, HR, PM. The problem is during cutover, other modules just upload their initial balance into SAP productive system. Thus, we don't get historical data for ongoing project.

I really appreciate if anybody would like to share their experience in cutover strategy for PS.

All implementations I have seen - actual values are cut across as a lump sum.

The historical data is extracted out of legacy and is availableas a flat fiel. It you have a reporting tool ie BW/Bi you could build this in

Create a parallel PS structure consisting of Offsetting Projects, Ofsetting WBS elements at both level. Post the Historical costs on the Offsetting Project Structures. You should be able to get the info ure looking..
