How to exclude Project type/WSB so that I can not post time?

Post by nandu25 » Wed Jul 01, 2009 10:38 am

Hi,
I am looking to exclude certain project types or WSB where I don't want to post time e.g. Capital planning projects.
Is there config that I can use so that for those Project types/WBS when some one tries to post the time, system doesn't allow user to post time against those?

Thanks,

N..

What type of confirmation do you use?
Only activity control key could deny a confirmation (CONFPS01)
But there are lot of exits CONFPS01-05..

Thanks Greed,
We are not using networks. We are just using WBS and attaching PM Orders to WBS.
But we might have direct procurement at the WBS level and also the capital planning.
All I want is some setting at wbs level (something like business process control with user status) so that people are not allowed to charge the time to WBS where they are not supposed to.

I am sure there will be user exits but is there any option /setting at wbs level to avoid charging time?

Thanks,

So.. did you try limit "confirmation" business transactions in status schemes?
For orders I saw BO "Confirm order". But if you have a variants (assign of not assign) a same PM-order type to WBS, then even if it work, it can't help.

The simple way I can think of is create a project team and assign to the WBS. It could be just the administrator. This will restrict the others to enter time to the WBS. The other way could be to use a validation rule in the WBS, but I am not sure if the validation rule will be invoked during time entry or during transfer, you might want to test that out.

Hi Greed

I could locate the user exit confps01 in cmod but the same could not be located in application structure under PS node.

Could u pl. tell me how to locate the same so that in future finding such exits becomes easy.

Thanks in advance

Hi, Martin!

It's experience =)
Not all PS-exits contain in PS-branch, it also could be find in CO or PM areas (for example in PM_FAQ).

Hi,
As for your need, i suppose the authority may offers some help. Still I'm afraid the authority is complex and not the best way to meet your need. If there is a necessary reqire, I suggest you get the need with some ABAP work. For example, hide time specific fields in WBS and create a new smartform for time posting input.
