Equipment Sort Field

Postby BIDOR » Tue Sep 09, 2014 9:33 am

Hi,

We are using Equipment Sort Field for a specific function which defines a region.

Since this is an "opened free text field", and we have many defined regions, it would be great to be able to select from a list to update this field. In doing so, users would always select the right description and not invent new ones.

Could anyone please let me know if this is possible and, if yes, what is the most efficient way of achieving this result ?

Thanks for your help.

Its not possible to add a drop-down option on this field - its free-text only.

You could validate the data entered at SAVE via user-exit IEQM0003 (see transaction SMOD)

Other options are:
- Use classification
- Use user-exit ITOB0001 to create your own customer-specific screen/field

Hello again,

Just one more question about the validation user exit.

If we want to prevent users from entering duplicate TechId's, is it through the same user exit. I was just thinking that for other fields where you have 10 to 20 possibilities, it's not so bad but if you need to validate through the whole list of TechId's it's something else.

Or would this be a seperate ABAP development ?

Thanks again for your help !

Bidor,

Both development can be supported in user-exit IEQM0003.

Talk to you ABAP Team who should be able to help.
