Generate Maintenance Plan Order with expired Sales Doc.?

Dear Experts,

Maintenance Order will be generated from a Maintenance Plan via a Sales Document (sales contract),

However, if the Sales Document is expired, is it also possible to generate the Maintenance Plan Order, but with warning message in log?

It is because user may not aware a sales contract will be expired before the generation of the maintenance plan order. The warning message may make him/her aware to review and extend the Sales Contract.

Thanks & regards,

Green Green,

If you use IP50 to create your plans, then the plan should stop generating orders when the contract expires. However, there are major restrictions when using IP50 in that you can only use general task lists, and from memory, you cannot use strategies.

If you use any of the other transaction to create plans, then they do not automatically stop as there is no contract assignment and therefore they do not know when to stop.

We've had to develop solutions in the past to get around this issue.

Dear PJA,

Thanks for your reply.

Kindly if you could inspire me on which enhancement you were used to develop a solution to get around this issue. Thanks.

Inside your enhancement, did you check with the Sales Contract "valid to" date and over-write it to a non-expired one before auto-creation of the Maintenance Plan Order? If not, may I know what was your enhancement about?

Thanks a lot.

We created a batch program that ran each night to check for expiring contracts. Then the program found the plans for these contracts and made them inactive.

Make sure this program runs before any IP30 sessions.

Dear PJA,

Your approach is to stop the Maintenance Plan generated orders.

However, is it also possible to modify the batch job program to change the Sales Contract "valid to" date in advance, before any IP30 session?
We want the Maintenance Plan order must be generated first, and then review the Sales Contract to set the proper "Valid to" date.

Thank you.
