New schema user status

Postby Windux » Thu May 08, 2014 9:26 am

We created a new schema user status for an order type.
It happens that there are already orders created without this scheme status.
Is there a way to update these orders that are not yet closed?

Hi Windux,

as long as the order does not have a user status profile yet, you can select one in the status screen in IW32 directly. However if a user status profile is already assigned, you cannot change it anymore.

Hi again Windux,

I was doing a little more investigation on that one, and it turns out you can change the user status profile of an object, however it needs a little bit of programming. I comprised a little blog post that explains how you can do it: http://www.dev-workbench.com/blog/how-to-change-the-user-status-profile-of-an-object/. I hope that is what you're looking for.

Does this program also remove the old records from the database?

Hi PJA,

the function module that is used does that. All the old statuses get thrown away, and the object will have the initial statuses (if there are any) of the new status profile. Tables JEST, JSTO and even JCDS (status line change docs) will be updated accordingly.
There are a few hints that something was changed, though (SAP ERP is like an elefant, it never forgets). If the user status profile has an initial status, the field "CDTCODE" in JCDS will have the value "SEU_INT" instead of the creation transaction (e.g. normally IW21 for a maintenance notification). Also, the changes are logged in table JCDO, this table is specifically there to document changes of the user status profile.
Good question however, I'll take that up in the blog post. Thanks!
