Different Use between Construction Type and PM assembly?

Postby Sallyxu » Mon Feb 10, 2014 10:11 pm

Hi PM Guru,

Both Construction Type and PM assembly can be used a BOM.

As far as I know, PM assembly can be used on TL to select material.

What are the other difference in the uses?

Thanks,

Sally

A PM Assembly is a material type IBAU which isn't a "real" material. Its often used as a node in a BOM e.g. Electrical Spares, etc.

Sometime customers use the Assembly field on the order/notif header, and they may choose to enter IBAU's only (although any material number can be entered).

Hi Pete,

What is the special feature for Construction type apart from the use like a BOM assigned on FL/Equipment?

Thanks,

Sally

Sally,

It can be used as the material number that you use to replace the whole equipment.

Hi PJA,
We are trying to avoid using Installed Base to define a group of assets that make up what we call an Equipment system .
Could we use Construction Type in this case? We don't want to transact against it. It's purely for identifying what FL/EQ's make up a system.

Thanks
