Notification task actual (before-save) status

I've added a button to notification as actionbox item that runs a functional module. In the function module I want to check the system status of tasks. But status can be changed in the same t-code, so the actual status can differ from the saved status. For example a user completed the task and after what presses the button. How can I read the actual status of the tasks?
