PM Users, there is an increasing number of posts related to questions that have been answered many times, I personally dont answer most of them but several other users still try to help out where they can, especialy PJA who has listed every possible user exit about 20 times.

In order to try to reduce the number of repeat posts, I would like your thoughts on the idea of creating a list of FAQs which could be added to the top of the list as a "sticky"

Some of the possible contents are things like, where do i customize equipment views? Is there a user exit for XYZ, How do I default the cost object in a settlement rule?

Im sure there are many more subjects that all new PM users like to know about so If you agree I will approach one of the SAPFans moderators to see if they agree.

If they do we can work out the detail.

Hi guys,

Some PM/CS FAQ to think about:

Database Tables (including views)
Useful function modules (inc BAPIs)
Usefule links to other web-sites

The problem here is: where to store all this data???

It would also be nice if we could "classify" our posts for better data retreival eg. Orders, Notifications, Warranty etc.

The standard SAPFans search function is not ideal - try searching for "pm tables" - I know there has been many posts, but the system does not show them!!!!

Good idea

It will make a good repository.

More questions:

Would it be possible to lock/unlock the FAQ post at any time? Otherwise, how do we keep the FAQ up-to-date?

How do we co-ordinate changes? and who can make the changes?

I could add it to my web-site (contentious I know), but that would mean only I could update it - which is also NOT ideal.

I've put this post as a "sticky topic" for a couple of weeks.

I think we need to have one "Keeper of the PM FAQ" who will be the only one who can update the data. Any info we want to enter/change can be submitted to the KotPF for approval and eventual updating in the master list.

Paul, Guys

It would take a lot of time and effort for one person to set-up and administer such a FAQ site if we include all the wish-list items.

Maybe another solution is for us the create a new internet group. this can be easily done and you can have multiple people creating/changing data.

Furthermore it can be split into sections such as tables, user-exits, useful documents, sale items, etc.

The "core" players would then add the web-link in their signature. These peolpe would also have create/change ascess

I'll see if I can set up a simple template over the weekend as a demo.

Pete I was thinking about putting the content into the normal post format and then having the individual posts locked, the FAQ list could be nothing more than a list of short cuts.

But lets wait and see what the rest of the users think, then we can look at how to set it up.

good idea
