Not a bad idea, as long as the people who need it take time to read it.

I have been looking at this forum for a while and hvae picked up a few very good ideas, but havent had much to add as others normally beat me to it.

Here are my ideas about some content:

How to activate warrantys
Linking documents
No you cant change an order type after creation
The meaning of FUL & PER in settlement rules
Basic Fleet Management issues.
Allocation of packages to operations and items/counters to plans.
Downloading to access.
Direct vs indirect BOM structures
FLoc vs Equipment
MC** reports and structures
Reporting on cost at operation level

& A full list of exits/entries

Hope you guys can get this going, I will help out if I can.

Frequently Asked Questions

I think everyone is in general agreement theat we need a FAQ for PM and CS.

The outstanding question is still how/where ?

Some ideas on this purpuse

I think it's a very good idea to create the FAQ list.
I agree with PJA about the work needed : it is enormous : preparing subjects, deciding if they are FAQ or not, explain clearly answers without leaving the subject, etc.
I am agreeing to the first idea : create a this list using the real FAQ in this forum. (we can define for example : all subjectes listed more than 20 times, or more or less, it's only an example)
Concerning the idea of creating a new adress, I think that it is completely unseful for more than one reason :
- We can not connect as a guest (persons that want to see FAQ are usually logged as guest)
- In some compagnies, forums are not allowed to be seen. Administrator disable this access by proxies or other utilities (I saw that more than once)
- The notority fo sapfans is real. Why do PM SAP users have another 'reference site'? All other teams have the same!

Another point very important : searching in this FAQ. As you imagine, this FAQ will be bigger and bigger and it must be friendly for search. Basically, we can create four big chapters with sub-chapters for each: Basic Data (FL, EQ, BOM), Maintenance Processing (Notification, Orders, confirmations), Data Migration, Technical tips (user exits, BADI, tables, etc.)

Then we have to define the delivrable (an excel sheet, a pdf, html) Personnaly, I think that PDF files is the better solution (but discussion can be launched).

if you have more ideas, you're welcome.

Great idea, it has some limitations e.g. storing documents, images etc

Do you know if its possible to allow multiple SAPFans users to update the same post?

Otherwise it means all the administration would fall onto one person - and this task should not be underestimated!!!

Great Friends

I too vote for it.

How to do it -- Devide and arrange
1) Select common topics. Subdevide further.
2) Give Complexity ratings
3) Store notes under (Topic+Complexity) groups
4) Make links under Heading PM-CS --<Topic>--<Complexity>

Who to do it -- Again "devide and assign"
1) Decide required activities - group them like
a) Composing and compling
b) Testing
c) Editing and finishing

2) Group people according to
a) Topics selected
b) Activities selected

3) Assign people "Role and Area". Some people can take multiple roles and areas.

I offer my services for area "Technical Objects" and "Maintenance Planning" and Role "Compiling" and "Testing".

Some of us should take Lead roles.

We can follow a formal democracy -
Select leaders by voting. Leaders to select team.

Take opinion from the moderator.

Yes, a little, Snowy (Moderator) has sent a request to the sites owner requesting that Myself, PJA and Didier be set up as moderators for the PM forum only so that we can manage the FAQ post, and get rid of duplicates etc.

Not sure how long this will take.

Dear all,

I also vote to have FAQ with sorting or classification to avoid duplicates. This will also help for faster realization & more pepole will get benefits.

PN FAQ is definately a good idea

Good idea for FAQ but having a dynamic FAQ will be a difficult issue
Try to optimize the sorting. and/or when ever any one logs into the forum to post the querry, let there be some kind of check on the subject line to match the word/words and let the user get a list of similar posts.

this will help users to find similar posts based on the words as well as no need of moderators.
