Can anyone tell me what the IM Material field is used for on a Purchase Order?

IM material is short for inventory managed material.
If you work with manufacturers material numbers then you may have a material master per manufacturer part number beside your inventory managed material master.
As far as I know (never worked with it) you order by manufactureres material number. Then the IM material contains the material number of the inventory managed material.
