Recycled Purch Req No. Behaviour in MRP (CLOSED)

Postby monty carlo » Fri Nov 27, 2015 5:52 am

The business have recently decided to recycle purchase requisition numbers and this has been going on for the last few weeks without issue.
This week a user has noticed something in the system and has asked for a definitive answer on how the purchase requisitions are now behaving.

Example before MRP run: 2 PREQs exist

REQ______QTY___REL Date____DEL Date
10000123___19___23.11.15____11.04.16 - User manually updates source of supply (extends the validity period due to long lead time)
10002345____8___25.11.15____13.04.16

Example after MRP run: same 2 PREQs still exist

REQ______QTY___REL Date____DEL Date
10000123____8___12.04.16____30.08.16
10002345___19___25.11.15____13.04.16 - This PREQ is still behind the other PREQ in no. range value but the unchanged contents bring it ahead in the calendar

Questions;

(1) Has the MRP run changed the requirements of the first PREQ? Or just deleted the PREQ contents and recycled the number with new values?
- I know that part of this will be driven by the settings for the MRP run, but a general conceptual explanation would be useful

(2) Additionally, is there a definable sort sequence in the Stock Requirement List (MD04) that sorts the display of (for example) purchase requisitions?
- If so, does anybody know how this is done?

Regards
Monty

This has been resolved internally.
The real problem was the description of the issue from the business - this is NOT recycling old/archived purchase requisitions
The functional issue was users not understanding the settings on the MRP initial screen after they made changes to how MRP runs
