Batch to Batch Transfer - Mvmt 309

All,

I have two questions regarding mvmt 309. We have two situations where we want to transfer inventory from one matl/batch to another.

The first scenario is transferring inventory from one batch to another where the receiving batch already exists. What I want to do is have the date of manufature from the original batch transfer to the receiving batch. Is this something that i can control in config? I don't know of any copy control config that will allow me to do this.

The second scenario is a transfer to a matl/batch that does not exist. When trying to execute this transfer SAP tells me that the batch does not exist for the material. I looked at the mvmt type config for create batch but none of the setting allows the new batch creation. If we can have SAP create the new batch I would also like to copy the date of manufacture from the origianl batch into the new batch.

You are correct and I apologize. I was remiss in not stating how this was resolved.

I was able to find the configuration (Materials Management>Inventory Management and Physical Inventory >Movement Types >Copy, Change Movement Types) for the 309 movment and set the "Create New Batch" value to null. Is allowed the batch to be created.
As far as the copy rules for the date of manufacture, the requirement was withdrawn so I didn't want to leave this open and waste anyone's time.

I now see where my small response was inappropriate for this (or any) forum. Again I apologize.
