Availability check for Externally procured items

Postby professional1966 on Fri Jul 30, 2010 1:29 am

I have defined a material which is to be externally procured and while creating a material it asks for checking group in MRP3 view.

What would happen if i specify no availability check(KP) for this externally procured item. Will SAP check while running mRP that there are already planned receipts for this item and will propose a quantity after netting the requirements with KP checing group.
And while issuing it against a production order, there will again be no availability check as it KP.

Does it mean that while creating Requisitions it will not do any availability check and while issues it will do availability check.

I have specified checking group 01 in material master where stock in quality inspection is marked and then moved partial stock from unrestricted to quality stock. In Md04 , only the unrestricted stock was displayed and not the quality stock. Why it should happen like this.

Thanks

If you make availability check KP, then SAP assumes that you have endless stock.

there cannot be an availability check for external procurement, you cannot look into your vendors stocks from your SAP. It is always effecting and checking your own stocks.

So what should i define for availability check for externally procured items.

I assume this check will consider other planned receipts and other stock types during the planning run while generating order proposals

In my example i had stated that quality stocks were not considered during planning run whereas my availability check included quality stocks also to be considered.

Do you see a reason why they got excluded from the calculation.

Hi,

The dynamic availability check will be taken into account during either one of the following cases (provided that the related configuration is activated) -

1) Goods Receipt;
2) Reservation; and/or
3) Goods Issue / Stock Transfer

It is not used for MPR run

Cheers,
