Dummy Sales Employee

Post by The Prince Of Darkness » Tue Nov 01, 2011 8:06 am

Scenario is - we are using partner function on customer master to define the sales person resonsible (PE - Sales Employee). This is for sales commission reports.

Requiring partner PE is part ot the incompletion check when saving sales orders.

We have some customers where we do not have or want a sales person. We had planned on using a "dummy" sales employee for this purpose. Security are questioning this and pushing back. Is it usual to have a dummy PE for this scenario? What other alternatives?

We do this but we do not call it 'dummy'. We setup a partner called 'House Account' which means that 'The house' (us) keeps the commission. It serves the same purpose as having a dummy, but the auditors / security seem satisfied.

BTW - Some contend that all sales employees are dummies :D
Good luck!

Thanks. We actually intend to call it House Account as well.

Does anyone else do this? My Security team maintain this is not best practice, but I want some opinions before I get our SD team building an elaborate solution when a "House Account" fulfils the requirement.

It sounds like your security team does not want your company to keep its own money! Perhaps an investigation is in order?

You know, sales employees may not always be the brightest, but calling them dummies is not nice. That is a name best reserved for wayward security team members.

Seriously, you could assign just about anything. You could even use the customer number of the selling company if you have any inter-company activity.
