Variant Config, Performance VA01

Postby JabbatheHut on Tue Jul 27, 2010 2:10 am

Hi Guys

Is there any way of preventing Va01 to run all the variantconfig rules?

For example if i just want to copy item 100 to 200, it takes a really long time because it checks all the dependencies.

It also seems to check the variantconfig when saving Va01 order. Why? No userexits...

Can i use some user parameters or something to turn off the the variant config checks that is run in the background?

Any suggestions on how to analyse performance issues in VC? i heard about the CUTRC as of 4.7 but i cant figure out how it is suppose to be used?

Thanks for any input!!!! :D

One of the many reasons I prefer variant tables and variant functions to hard-coded dependencies and constraints... Especially for large configurations, as it appears you have. That in-line code is very expensive to decipher, particularly for constraints.

If you do your work in a variant function and with transparent variant tables, you are in near complete control of the performance, and the performance difference is VERY significant.
