Need help for books!!

Postby egementuran » Thu May 26, 2011 1:43 pm

Im a Datamatician student in Denmark. Im almost done. The last semester i choosed traineeship, at a company which is using SAP/ABAP.
I need a good book to start learning from buttom. I can program in languages like Java, C#. I found this book called 'Object Abap' heres a link:

http://www.amazon.com/ABAP-Objects-Intr ... 714&sr=1-1

Does anyone else have a better book for a java/c# programmer.

1. even if you get a decent book on abap, you will still need to think of access to an sap system where you can try your hands at programming.
2. Am not sure if there is a dveloper's version of simplified sap available for download on the sdn,.. maybe some of the sapfans-gurus will be kind enough to point you in the right direction here.
3. If you still have access to a sap sandbox system you may want to try the transaction code abapdocu for starters.
4. good luck.
cheers

I think the latest version of this book comes with a SAP NetWeaver 2004s ABAP trial version on DVD, including all the book examples.

Hi guys. I got bad news today. The company Lundbeck is using basic abap and not oo abap. Is there a huge difference? Can i self study object abap and be ready to program in basic abap. In any event i'll be in that company for 3 months and learn abap basic. Is that a good combination or do you guys suggest to self study basic abap instead? If so? Any books for basic abap? Maybe just a starting point...
Thanks
