Destination file created twice

Postby roortman » Tue Oct 23, 2012 6:01 am

Hi all,

First of all, I'm not a XI developer, but the last months I have been into it enough to say I have more than a fair knowledge.
However, I run into an issue that not seems to occur always.

To explain..

We receive a XML file from a 3rd party WM environment, we process this file in namespace '099'.
This namespace has java in there, to determine a destination folder on the FTP server based on certain criteria in the actual XML.
This is done because the 3rd party system sends 1 file that based on that criteria might be different types of IDOCs.
In this case, they send us a stock overview. This file lands in the 'PIX' folder on the FTP server, then XI picks it up and puts in the the destination folder (comparison). Then XI again picks up the file from the 'comparison' folder and does the correct data mapping.

My problem exists in the initial processing. The file (in this case) is about 4mb large and gets put into XI once. However it appears in the destination folder twice, and I can't find why it's doing this (and it doesn't happen always).
I initially thought that it might have to do with the file size, and that XI hasn't processed the file completely before it polled again. But then I increased the polling time to 10 minutes and it still created the destination file twice.

Please let me know if someone has had this occur before and may have a solution.
Or if you need additional data such as the Java script that determines the destination folder and / or the communication channel setup, please let me know.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi

i know there was a known issue with PI that it would process a file that had not been completed yet.

i am not sure that this is the issue here.

so say there is Java code that reads the file and based upon a condition, it moves the file. what if that condition could be met twice in the file? would the java code stop at the first one?

I checked that, and the file we're sending is unique over all if statements, so that's not it either.
We are using XI 3.0 still at the moment (we're currently upgrading), so what you say might be the issue.

But that should not happen if I set my polling time to 10 minutes, since after 10 minutes the file is processed and it wouldn't be able to process it again since the file has moved then.

have you set the file to delete or archive after processing?

It is set to archive, and I tried delete and then the issue doesn't seem to happen.
But from a SOX perspective we are not allowed to delete.

and it is archived to a different location?

try changing the filename when archiving - or changing the file extension.
