What is a MUSt for SRM HR Organization plan

Hi all SRM Gurus..

I'am new to SRM. My cores are is Procurement in SAP ECC. Anyway I'am going to setup SAP SRM for a new client.

My issue is:

The client has a "flat" HR structure in SAP ECC. They have done some own development to it with z-programming.

- If I map the SAP ECC HR structure to SAP SRM. Is it okey to have a flat HR structure in SRM. what kind of limitation will it bring with?
- What elments are MUST for SRM HR organizational plan. I men roles, positions, payroll ect.
- If the HR structure in SRM is diffrent from HR in ECC the the client has to maintain data in bolth systems. How much workload is it to do so. This is goin to be my alternative solution that we make a new and diffrent HR setup in SRM
