BCS - Lot of Versions & Archiving

Postby Cortez » Wed Jan 16, 2008 3:22 am

Dear SAP Fans!

Currently working on a BCS implementation link with BPS.

Out of BPS we receive a lot of different versions
Monthly Forecast + Budget (with various reviews) with different simulation scenario... this would lead us to more than 60 (and maybe much more).

We need to have some historical data but we probably don't need to have all those versions within BCS...

Question: Is there any easy way to archive all the data of one version in another database to reduce the number of version within BCS (and this way to reduce the work and improve the performance of BCS)?
Or 60 versions is still manageable and shouldn't be a problem?

Thanks for your input,

Regards,

Mat

Mat,

As long as all or most of the versions are not different, and in special versions inherit the values from one of the base versions, and the versions not needed for BCS are not consolidated (no execution of monitor tasks), the performance should not be of concern, and should be quite manageable.

My preference is this keep the version values the same in both BCS and BPS to avoid confusion.

Hi Dans,

Thanks for your input! I appreciate it.
You are probably right to keep the same version in BPS & BCS...
