Balance carry forward in BCS

Postby itisme » Thu Aug 09, 2007 8:36 pm

Hi,

There is balance carryforward function in R/3 as well as BCS. If the BCF is executed in R/3, if the same function is executed in BCS will not result in duplication?

When the R/3 balance carryforward function calculates the profit only in the year , BCS retained earning will calculates the profit for every month. Will it result in duplication?

How do one take care of this situation, since BCF execution in R/3 is traditional one and essential to close all the revenue/expense account on yearly basis.

Regards,

Amit

Hi Amit

This is way I think BCS should do

1. When you upload in BCS either via Flex File or from Data Stream BCS always store periodic value

Suppose in BCS G/L 12/2007-------------100
Carry Forward G/L 0/2008---------------100

Now in R/3 you have do BCF

G/L 12/2007-------------100
G/L 0/2008---------------100
If suppose you have posted some transaction in Period-1
G/L 1/2008---------------20

Now YTD 120 in R/3 Now
Now when the B/S is uploaded it will be upload for Period 1/2008
In BCS this is will be stored like this
G/L 1/2008---------------20

This is how BCS will take care.

2. Profit will also take care the same way as it is B/S.

If you have some other opinions lets discuss

Cheers

I agree with you.

But the question is the amount BCF in R/3 and BCS will be different due to addtional entries in BCS only.

WHen the BCF is executed in R/3 in period 12 and then BCS data for period 12 will not have any income statement item for period 12 since in R/3 it is already netted out in BCF function.

Some Gurus let me know your views.
