SEM BCS vs. FI-LC/EC-CS

Postby fma » Fri Nov 10, 2006 7:17 am

Hi all,

I'm an ex-SAP CRM consultant turned into 'customer side' IS project manager...and now I have to deal with an FI project (it's in a very early consideration stage), and I have some doubts here. We're on 4.6c, upgrading to ECC 5.0 next year.

I understand that for a consolidation solution, we could do this using FI-LC (or EC-CS), or SEM-BSC.

I fail to find documentation that could help me have a well judged opinion on which of the options is ‘better’.

Am I to believe that SEM-BCS would be preferable for support reasons*, as well as functionality?

Also, if considering a budgeting solution for the future, is the SEM option the one to go, as one can move BSC data to BPS?

sorry for the newbie question, and thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers
fma

* read in another post that “SAP is not doing major development in ECCS and the support will stop by 2009 for ECCS. So it is more or less in sunset mode.â€
