Data model in SEM-BCS

Postby tdid » Wed Oct 11, 2006 4:15 am

Hello!

We are looking at start using the SEM-BCS functionality. What we have some doubts on are the mapping of our structure. We have a legal structure (company codes) and a management structure, the latter being a combination of profit centers and various characteristics in CO-PA.

Basically, you could say that we have three dimensions in the mgmt structure, where two of the dimensions could be broken down in two-three levels, for instance one of the dimensions is the regions and they can be broken down to hubs and the hubs to individual countries.

Is it possible to create a data model in BCS so that we can do allocations from cost center groups to our dimensions, for instance to regions and then do a full P&L for the regions? We also need to allocate from the regions to another dimensions (product).

What would the regions be mapped to: consolidation units or characteristics or something else in BCS?

Thanks for any input and thoughts on this!

Hopefully a future BCS-user
