Calculation Characteristic

Postby daardvark » Fri Nov 30, 2012 9:39 am

Hello,

I posted this earlier but I didn't see in in the forum, so if it becomes a double post this is why.

I'm trying to create a calculated characteristic. and use characteristic 210 in my inspection plan to populate the value in characteristic 280.

I set up char 280 to be a calc char. and use the following formula:

(A00210 * 0.5185) + 3.7395

When I save I get a warning and an error.

Error
QP086 No original value recording for referenced characteristic 0210

Warning

QP088
No original value recording for calculated characteristic 210

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks in advance

It sounds like you have characteristic 210 marked as a calculated characteristic in the control indicators. Only characteristic 280 should be so marked.

Craig,

Char 210 is not set up as a calc char. Only Char 280 is.

Thanks for the reply. I'll keep trying.

Hi

Have you tried using (C00210 * 0.5185) + 3.7395 as the formula?

That does work although I really don't understand what all the choices mean. Is there an resource I can read on what to choose when as far as A0, C0, C1 etc.?

Thanks, this gives me a little better handle on the situation. Unfortunatly I'm now facing the problem of needing this calculation to "fire" after editing the batch record (MSC2N). I have two qualities of product. Quality 2 "inherits" all of the data from quality 1 with the exception of a characteristic called strength. Using the batch copy, we are populating all of the data in quality 2 from quality 1,changing only strength. There is another char based on strength which I was hoping to calculate with the formula. I don't think there is a way to do this short of ABAP which for various reasons is not an option.

Thanks for the help. I know your time is valuable, and it is appreciated.

Hi

If you want to calculate a value in the Batch Classification (MSC2N), you can use Object Dependancies (CU01) in the Batch.
Hope this helps.

I believe if you go into configuration where you can create custom formula parameters the help files there explain them.

If you want the calculation do be done in MSC2n do as already suggested. In fact, you can even do without the calculated characteristic in the inspection lot if you want and do it strictly in the dependency.
