Can you use authorizations to control screen options.

Postby kanataabper » Mon Oct 21, 2002 2:24 pm

Can we use authorizations to control what options the user can click on up by the Standard Toolbar.

For instance in t-code CJ02 the user can click on EDIT and then STATUS and RELEASE. I have been requested to remove the RELEASE option using authorizations.

Any guidance would be much appreicated.

Thanks Fred

hello:

I have not looked on what you can do from authorisation point of view but
I can suggest a very good way to hide or disable buttons on the SAP screens of a particular transaction using the transaction variants. It is
an excellent tool to design screen for users who you do not want to give
the whole thing in case they start to cuase damege or play around.
For example, recently I have to give access to support team to transaction
PFCG to assign users to job roles. With transaction variant they can
access to the profile generator but I have hidden the create button so
they can not create job roles. This tool take you all the way to hide or
disable buttons, menues and icons in all subsequent screens associated with the transaction.

I hope this will help and let me know the outcome.

generally you cannot control the standard tool bar, With the exception of the "create role" assign user on the Session manager screen most of the options are not controlled. there are a few on the System pulldown, services and utilities that are controled at the tcode level and the internals of the code.
